Aquila Luxury Self Catering Cottage is the latest addition to award winning Walltown Lodge Bed & Breadfast. Located in the idyllic Northumberland National Park in a fantastic location just 150 yards from what is acknowledged to be the most dramatic and beautiful stretch of Hadrians Wall and in the amazing dark sky park where the milky way can be seen with the naked eye.
It is the perfect, romantic retreat for couples wishing to have total privacy behind your own front door, from which you can enjoy some of the best walking in the UK (the cottage is directly on The Hadrians Wall Path and Pennine Way), breathtaking star gazing and fascinating Roman history. Combined with the cottage's brilliantly, central location exploring further afield couldn't be easier...The Lake District, North Pennines AONB, Scottish Borders and Northumberland coast are all within an hours drive...it offers the perfect combination of accessibility whilst retaining the total peace and tranquility of its beautiful rural surroundings.
The cottage is newly refurbished from an old workshop in the grounds of the B&B but is completely self contained.

Newly refurbished from an old workshop in the grounds of the B&B, it is completely self contained proving total privacy.
What can be better than cosying up in front of the log burning stove with a glass of your favourite tipple after cooking yourself a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen after a busy day exploring? Or if cooking's not your thing there's no need to worry, the local pub is just a 15 minute stroll away!

Whilst no expense has been spared to ensure our beautiful luxury country cottage comes fully equipped with all mod cons, it retains no shortage of rustic, vintage charm ... On the open plan ground floor you will find delightful, rustic, exposed beams, log burner, chunky throws, rugs and vintage furniture sitting comortably alongside the 40" flat-screen smart TV, DVD/Blueray player and Amazon Echo smart assistant. The quality modern kitchen is fully equipped with full size integrated appliances including oven/hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge and microwave.

Climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find the good sized charming bedroom with kingsize bed (with memory foam mattress) . The modern, airy bathroom is sited across the landing, and houses a large, luxurious sit-in rainforest shower.

History

We are located on the site of the former Roman fort Carvoran, directly opposite The Roman Army Museum at Greenhead. The "Hadrians Wall Bus" which stops at the numerous historic sites along Hadrians Wall including Vindolanda and Housesteads Roman Forts stops directly outside Walltown Lodge. Access to all of our wonderful history couldn't be easier!
Cultural Sites

Situated 150 yards from Hadrians Wall UNESCO world heritage site, directly opposite the Roman Army Museum and within a short 5-10 minute drive from Vindolanda, Housesteads and Birdoswald Roman Forts.
Walking
We are on the Hadrians Wall Path and Penine Way. No detours, pick ups or transport required!
Leisure Activities
Perfectly located for exploring Northumberland, Cumbria, The Scottish Borders and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mid way between the pretty market town of Hexham with its majestic abbey and historical Carlisle .
Cycling
We are on the Hadrian's cycleway and coast to coast cycle route. We provide free secure CCTV monitored bicycle storage.
Dark Skies
Located in the Northumberland National Park which is not only stunning by day but by night is home to officially the darkest skies in England and the largest designated darksky area in Europe. We are situated directly in front of Walltown Country Park which is a designated dark sky discovery site.
